The Library
Books, paper books to be more precise, that's what I like. In a bookshop or public library I can wander for hours. Looking at the books on the shelf, reading short passages, to see if the book appeals to me. I never get used to reading digital books. I tried several times, starting on my Treo 650 (my first and best Smartphone, I would even prefer it over my iphone, the Palm OS was great) and now on the iphone. But I cannot get used to it. I want to feel the book, smell it. Yes reading a paper book is a great thing, of which I hope I can still enjoy for a very long time. This blog will concentrate on my own modest library, and I will put my books on my blog one by one and will add the newly purchased books. One that is in the pipeline is Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. The majority of my books are in Dutch, but I will describe and discuss the in English. This project of will force in some cases to re-read a book, so that is a nice coincidence. First I will start with the latest books I have read, they are the biographies of three great Romans, Hadrian, August and Cicero, written by Anthony Everitt.
